Running the London Marathon in memory of Carolyn
Running the London Marathon in memory of a sister and t4w’s founder
Janet Dimmer, is running this year’s London Marathon in memory of her sister and t4w’s founder, Carolyn Lazarus, who died of cancer in May 2015.
Janet, who is a Pilates instructor, has been training hard for the 26.2 mile race. She lives in Switzerland in a small hamlet near the Italian border, so the mountains are her training ground. The winter snows have meant that conditions have been far from ideal for those long training runs, but at least Janet is now well prepared for any April snow showers that London might throw up.
Hoping to run the race in 3 hours and something, Janet is motivated by the thought of something positive coming from her sister’s death; she and her husband Simon, who is also running the marathon, are hoping to raise £15,000 for the Rarer Cancers Foundation (RCF). The RCF, amongst many other things, provides up-to-date information on rarer cancers and the treatment options available.
For those who know Carolyn’s story, you will understand why this worthy charity was chosen and for those who don’t know her story, follow this link. We know Carolyn would certainly have approved of RCF, if not championed it, were she here today.
The Marathon is on April 24th. Janet and Simon are collecting donations for The Rarer Cancers Foundation through their JustGiving page. To donate please click here. Thank you for your support.
